excerpt from 05:39 HD Video

Space Oddity launched exactly between Edwards Air Force Base's Rocket Ridge (under a full Moon to the East) and the world's only commercially zoned air traffic corridor into outerspace (above a setting sun to the West). Rocket Ridge is the historic and still active ballistic testing zone deep in the Mojave desert and just one of many US Military Industrial Complexes spread out across the southwestern States. With entrepreneurs propelling the space race as much as the military, the Mojave Desert is also home to pop music mogul Richard Branson's future Virgin Spaceport designed for space tourism. With Zabriski Point's explosive scene filmed in the area, Pink Floyd once again succumbs to the gravitational pull of the dark-side of ballistic experimentation (see Dark Side of the Moon launch). Ghost Rockets World Tour however is choreographed to David Bowie's cinematic ballad Space Oddity. A custom mix uniquely made for this launch celebrates the haunting tones of the song's mellowtron--fitting for the Man Who Fell to Earth when mixed with radio recordings of a live preacher's sermon on the Book of Revelations recorded while camping at the rocket launch site amongst a herd of sheep while on LSD .
