Almost next door to the DEW Line site near Hall Lake is a small hospital that is operated by Miss Vera Roberts and Miss Ivy Hepburn. The tiny hospital is the most northerly in the Eastern Arctic and about three miles from the DEW Line site. Eskimos and their children traveled as far as 200 miles by dog team for medical attention. This small Eskimo child, Irokkittok, was admitted to the hospital suffering from a chest condition. |
